Understanding Blends
Different down and feather blends create different comfort experiences, ranging from supportive and structured to soft, lofty, and luxurious.
• 10/90 Blend — Made with 10% down and 90% feathers, this blend offers firmer support and a more structured feel with added durability.
• 15/85 Blend — A balanced blend that combines supportive feather structure with a touch of added softness and loft from down clusters.
• 50/50 Blend — Offers a softer, fluffier feel with increased loft while still maintaining supportive structure and everyday durability.
• 100% Down — The softest and most luxurious option, made entirely with down clusters for maximum loft, lightweight comfort, and an airy cloud-like feel.
Understanding Fill Power
Fill power refers to the size and loft of down clusters. Larger down clusters create more loft and expansion, allowing the down to take up more space with less actual weight.
Because higher fill power down has larger and more efficient clusters, it takes less 800 fill power down to fill a pillow than it would with 600 fill power down to achieve a similar size or loft.
Lower fill power down contains smaller clusters that require more fill weight to create the same fullness, while higher fill power down creates a lighter, airier, and more responsive feel with less material.
In general:
• 600 Fill Power — Smaller clusters with slightly more density and weight.
• 700 Fill Power — Increased loft with a lighter and softer feel.
• 800 Fill Power — Larger premium clusters that create exceptional loft with less fill weight and a more airy, luxurious feel.
Understanding Responsibly Sourced Down
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) is a voluntary global certification that helps ensure down and feathers come from responsibly treated birds and carefully monitored supply chains.
RDS certified down follows strict requirements focused on animal welfare throughout the sourcing and production process. The standard prohibits practices such as live-plucking and force-feeding while helping ensure that materials are tracked and verified throughout the supply chain.
In addition to animal welfare standards, RDS certification also helps provide consistency, traceability, and quality assurance for down and feather products used in luxury bedding.
